COVERAGE (STATES): Lagos and Rivers

FOCUS: Comprehensive HIV/AIDS

FUNDERS: HJFMRI- USMARD-A//N

DURATION: 2020- 2022

The Community-Based HIV Prevention, Treatment, Care & Support Services for Key Populations in Lagos and Rivers States project works to sustain the gains garnered over the years in the HIV response for key populations in Nigeria by delivering high-quality, comprehensive prevention, treatment, and services. The US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) funds the project through the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine and the US Military HIV Research Program/Walter Reed Army Institute of Research Nigeria.

The project has four key areas in which it will produce results:

  • Increased access to high-quality, comprehensive HIV/AIDS and STI prevention, treatment, and care services for key populations
  • Improved integration of high-quality HIV/AIDS and other sexual reproductive health and rights services for key populations
  • Improved referral services for key population access to Nigerian institutions for the provision of high-quality, comprehensive HIV/AIDS and STI services
  • Utilize social and behavioural change communication (SBCC) and human-centered design approaches in the provision of comprehensive HIV and STI services to key populations

The project is currently operational in two states –  Lagos and Rivers. However, the recent NAIIS results made available in March 2019 reflect the need to implement the program in both states.
